Michael Gistrak, MD

Dr. Michael Gistrak is Chairman of Pathology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway, where he has served as a member of the Medical Staff since 1996 and Vice Chairman from 1996 to 2021. He received his undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Brown University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his MD degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He trained in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, followed by a fellowship in Oncologic Pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he was the recipient of an American Cancer Society Training Grant. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and a Certified Inspector for CAP. Dr. Gistrak is active in the New Jersey Society of Pathologists, where he served as President from 2013-2015, and is currently a member of the Executive Committee. At RWJUH Rahway, Dr. Gistrak serves on the Medical Executive Committee and the Continuous Quality Review Council. At the system level, he is a member of the RWJBH Laboratory Leadership Committee, the RWJBH Lab Advisory Council and the RWJBH Anatomic Pathology Workgroup. Dr. Gistrak has also published in the area of Breast Pathology.
