Jonathan M. Barofsky, MD

Dr. Johnathan M. Barofsky is a Board-Certified ophthalmologist with advanced training in diseases of the retina, vitreous and macula. He provides care for patients with diseases of the retina that includes the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears, retinal detachment, retinal vascular diseases, vitreous disorders and uveitis. Dr. Barofsky is affiliated with Kimball Medical Center in Toms River, Ocean Medical Center in Brick and Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Prior to going into private practice in 1996, Dr. Barofsky received his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude with honors in biology from Union College in Schenectady, New York. While in college Dr. Barofsky was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society devoted to the promotion of research in science. He completed his medical degree at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Barofsky went on to an internship in internal medicine and a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School in Newark. He completed his training with a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Foundation for Retinal Research in New Orleans.
