    Dr. Amato brings a unique knowledge of facial surgery. He received a degree in dentistry from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery and a degree in medicine from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. After completing medical school, he remained at Mount Sinai Medical Center to complete an additional two years of training in general surgery and a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

    He then spent a year as the Posnick Craniomaxillofacial Surgery Fellow training with Dr. Jeffrey Posnick, a world leader in craniofacial surgery and Dr. Paul Gavaris, a leader in occuloplastic surgery. After the fellowship, he completed a full residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Cooper University with a special focus on Craniofacial surgery, including rotations at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

    In 2009, Dr. Amato established The Amato Center for Facial Surgery in West Orange, NJ, a division of The Metropolitan Craniofacial Center, and transitioned to Northeast Facial and Oral Surgery Specialists in 2020. He has been practicing craniofacial surgery with a special focus on orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery), distraction osteogenesis, cleft lip and palate, and craniofacial surgery for over a decade. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, a clinical professor of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and currently serves as the director of the New Jersey Institute for Craniofacial Surgery at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
