Joel K. Braver, MD

I am a board certified radiation oncologist dedicated to cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. My emphasis has always been on providing the best clinical care in a compassionate environment. I have been on staff at the Steeplechase Cancer Center at Somerset Medical Center, now Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJ) Somerset, since 1996 and serve as the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology. I am also affiliated with RWJ University Hospital, and RWJ University Hospital Hamilton. I recently joined Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School as a Clinical Instructor. I received my BA in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and then attended Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. I was thrilled to come back to the area after completing my radiation oncology residency at Montefiore Medical Center.

I initiated the Stereotactic Radiosurgery and brachytherapy programs at RWJ Somerset. I am an investigator in multiple clinical trials, and I am a member of the breast, genitourinary, lung, and neuro-oncology multidisciplinary care teams at RWJ Somerset. Additionally, I have served as the Chief Medical Officer for the Northwest New Jersey Division of the American Cancer Society and the Cancer Liaison Physician for the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons for RWJ Somerset. I am honored to have won numerous Top Doctor, Patient Choice, and Compassionate Doctor awards.
