Joanne D. Bishara, MD

Associate Director of Neonatology
Dr. Bishara is a knowledgeable, fellowship-trained neonatologist whose research/clinical interests include family-centered care, pulmonary hypertension/bronchopulmonary dysplasia, palliative care/neonatal ethics, and congenital heart disease. She is part of the dedicated, multi-disciplinary team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which cares for more than 1,000 each year with infant survival rates among the best in the nation.
After earning a medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine in 2006, she completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in 2007 and 2009, respectively. This was followed by a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Columbia University – Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in 2012.
Prior to joining CBMC, Dr. Bishara was on staff at Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center & Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center. She also served as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics within the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Passionate about her profession, Dr. Bishara is board-certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.
