Frank P. Barrows, DO

Dr. Barrows is director of the pediatric endocrinology and diabetes division at the Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, N.J. He is also an assistant clinical professor for Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.
An active lecturer, researcher and author, Dr. Barrows has published articles in three peer-reviewed journals: Pediatric Diabetes, Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism and Journal of Clinical Pediatrics. He has been published on the use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems in pediatric patients with Type 1 Diabetes. He is a member of the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society.
Dr. Barrows is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology and received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey (UMDNJ) School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, N.J. and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health from Brown University in Providence, R.I. Dr. Barrows completed his fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the University of North Carolina Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C. He completed his pediatric residency at K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J.
Dr. Barrows counsels his young patients on the importance of good nutrition and physical fitness. His interest in these areas is illustrated in athletic achievements, including earning a 2010 National Title in the American Ironman event at the United States Lifeguard Competition in Huntington Beach, Calif.
