David Samuel, MD
- Gynecologic Oncology
Dr. David Samuel is a gynecologic oncologist and member of the Leon Hess Cancer Center at RWJBarnabas Health. He specializes in the comprehensive treatment of gynecologic cancers and complex gynecologic surgery. He received his medical doctorate from The George Washington University with special designation in clinical and translational research. After completing a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he went on to pursue advanced fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at the University of Miami. During his time there, he also served as faculty at the Miller School of Medicine. He has expertise in advanced pelvic surgery for gynecologic cancers, including innovative techniques like HIPEC and fertility-sparing treatment. Dr. Samuel also has expert training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for benign gynecologic conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, and vaginal bleeding. He has been awarded by the AAGL for Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery.
Philosophy of Care:
Dr. Samuel believes that every woman with gynecologic cancer deserves a compassionate and individualized approach to their care. He makes sure that every patient feels heard and supported throughout their treatment journey. He is dedicated to providing evidence-based treatments that incorporate the latest clinical research and guidelines.
Research:
Dr. Samuel has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications or conference proceedings. His research interests include hereditary ovarian cancer and patient-centered outcomes in gynecologic oncology. He has been awarded for his research efforts by the University of Miami as well as the Florida Society of Gynecologic Oncology. His research has been presented at national and international conferences held by the Society for Gynecologic Oncology and International Gynecologic Cancer Society. He has published his work in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals such as Gynecologic Oncology, Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, and Current Problems in Cancer.
Ovarian cancer, uterine cancer and cervical cancer, vulvar and vaginal cancers, debulking surgery, sentinel lymph node mapping, surgery for placenta accreta spectrum, chemotherapy and immunotherapy for gynecologic cancer, heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), fertility-sparing surgery for gynecologic cancer, and benign gynecologic surgery.
