About The Living Donor Institute
The Living Donor Institute is an important component of Cooperman Barnabas’ comprehensive kidney transplant program. We offer innovative living donation options available only at select transplant centers around the country. For many patients, this makes kidney transplantation possible.

The Living Donor Institute provides the following comprehensive services:
- The Living Donor Kidney Exchange Program for patients with a willing but incompatible donor
- The Altruistic Living Donor Program that matches altruistic donors with recipients awaiting transplantation
- Living- and Emotionally-Related Donor Transplantation
- Minimally invasive surgery that reduces pain and complications for kidney donors and recipients
- Medical research to advance living donation as the best option for patients with chronic kidney disease
- Coordination of the screening process for donors who live outside NJ
- Live From--Kidney Transplant, in collaboration with Liberty Science Center and The Sharing Network of NJ, to introduce students to kidney transplant through live telecasts
