FireNET©/Essex County Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program
Many children experiment with fire often due to curiosity, peer pressure or emotional reasons. This is a dangerous practice that puts everyone in the community at risk. FireNET© is a screening program offered by The Burn Center to identify at risk behaviors. Children may be referred to program by parents/caregivers, schools, juvenile justice and child welfare/social/health care agencies. Re-entry Programs
Returning to work or school after a burn injury can be a stressful experience for survivors and their colleagues or friends. A licensed social worker and/or registered nurse are available to help ease this transition through specially tailored re-entry programs. For more information, or to arrange a program, contact Burn Community Programs at 973-322-8071 and follow the prompts.
Fire Safety House
Two mobile trailers recreate a home environment which allows children (primarily third graders) to identify and correct everyday household hazards that may lead to fire and burn injuries. Fire Safety Houses also simulate a house fire, utilizing non-toxic smoke, that allows children to practice their home escape plan. For more information or to schedule the fire safety house for your school or organization, please contact Burn Community Programs at 973-322-8071 and select from the options. Learn More
