Clinical Education Programs
The following clinical programs are available free of charge, meet state and national requirements for continuing education credits and may be arranged by contacting the Burn Community Programs at (973) 322-8071 and select from the options.
Prehospital Care
Managing the burn scene is key to improved patient outcomes. Presentations focusing on scene safety, initial stabilization, and patient transport are available for BLS or ALS emergency response personnel.
Emergency Department & Hospital Programs
Professional programs on the initial stabilization and preparation of the patient for transport to The Burn Center at Cooperman Barnabas follow American Burn Association recommended guidelines of care for Emergency Department personnel. Also offered are presentations for critical care courses, grand rounds or medical conferences to review advanced care and management of the burn patient.
Nursing School Program
Clinical programs on care of the thermally injured patient are available to accredited nursing schools. Subject material is presented to meet the educational needs of the students and adheres to ANA guidelines. Programs taught on-site also include a tour of The Burn Center.
Note: For all schools completing an observational experience at The Burn Center, this program is mandatory.
