Bariatric Surgery Program Outcomes
At Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, we are a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Comprehensive Center with Adolescent Qualifications. This prestigious designation from the American College of Surgeons consists of maintaining high level standards of care for our patients.
Our metabolic and bariatric surgery team tracks and evaluates many performance measures and compares them to national data to see how we are doing compared to other bariatric centers. The data we collect:
- Surgical volumes
- Clinical outcomes for Sleeve Gastrectomy surgeries
- Clinical outcomes for Gastric Bypass surgeries
Surgical Volumes

Clinical Outcomes – Sleeve Gastrectomy
At Cooperman Barnabas, our rate of complications for Calendar year 2022 are relatively low and we perform better than other bariatric centers nationwide. Here is a breakdown of how we compare to national averages.
Clinical Outcomes – Gastric Bypass
Our rate of complications for Gastric Bypass surgeries are better than national averages as well.
We will continue to monitor our patient outcomes to ensure they are receiving the highest level of quality care.
