Radiation Therapy Technology as a Career
The radiation therapist acts as a member of the cancer management team of physicians, dosimetrists, physicists and other health care professionals. Responsible for administering and recording a prescribed course of radiation treatments, the radiation therapist uses highly advanced, state-of-the-art ionizing producing equipment to treat cancer. The discipline requires an interest and understanding of science, mathematics and physics, as well as compassion and skill to provide the highest quality of care for cancer patients. Most radiation therapists experience profound emotional satisfaction from knowing they are helping patients manage their disease.
Technological advances in the field have increased the demand for radiation therapists. Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center promises a total learning experience to its students. Employment opportunities in this specialized field are available in most areas of the country.
