Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center
Medical Minutes with Alison Grann, MD
CyberKnife radiosurgery is a safe, noninvasive alternative to surgery for the treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors anywhere in the body, including the prostate, lung, brain, spine, liver, pancreas and kidney. The treatment – which delivers beams of high dose radiation to tumors with extreme accuracy – offers new hope to patients worldwide.
The staff at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (formerly Saint Barnabas Medical Center) in Livingston, NJ will work with your insurance providers to have CyberKnife radiosurgery covered, if it is determined that you are an eligible candidate for treatment.

Treat Cancer in Five Days
Unlike traditional radiosurgery, CyberKnife’s cutting-edge technology can track tumors in real time with continual image guidance, adjusting for breathing and correcting for movement. As a result, CyberKnife precisely delivers radiation to the tumor, sparing surrounding healthy tissue.
Prior to CyberKnife, a high-resolution CT scan is used to determine the size, shape and location of the tumor. This image data is transferred to the CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System, where the radiation oncologist precisely plans treatment to match the desired radiation dose to the exact tumor location.
CyberKnife’s robotic arm delivers high-dose radiation beams in an arrangement of unique angles, rotating around the patient while he or she lays comfortably on a treatment bed. The tracking technology and beam delivery system work together to pinpoint the exact target or tumor, helping to ensure a high success rate.
