Nutrition: An Important Component in the Fight Against Cancer

Nutrition is a very important part of cancer treatment. A healthful diet can help to rebuild your body's cells, especially if you are receiving chemotherapy or radiation treatment. To help guide you, nutrition counseling is available by a registered dietitian for all Cancer Center patients. The registered dietitian has special training in helping cancer patients and their families to make healthful food choices.

Common counseling sessions include topics such as:

  • Appetite changes
  • Unintentional weight loss
  • Healthy eating
  • Side effects from treatment or
  • Instituting a therapeutic diet.

To make an appointment for a nutritional consultation, please call the Ambulatory Care Center at 973-322-7007 or at the Medical Center at 973-322-5664. There is a fee for service.
