Parkinson’s Disease Family Advisory Council
The Parkinson's Disease Family Advisory Council at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center is a group of current and former patients, families and hospital staff who collaborate on ways to improve the patient experience and quality of care.
It started in 2016 with a mission to:
- Enhance the overall hospital experience for those with Parkinson’s disease and that of their caregivers
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients
- Provide high-quality medical and emotional support to patients and their caregiver
Accomplishments
Some of our accomplishments include:- Developed a process for the time-sensitive administration of medications for inpatient Parkinson’s disease patients
- Conducted facility-wide nursing education on Parkinson’s disease
- Facilitate ongoing virtual support and exercise offerings for the Parkinson’s disease community
