Living Donor Institute Established
The Saint Barnabas Renal and Pancreas Transplant Division launched New Jersey's first Living Donor Institute to promote living donation as the best transplant option for patients with chronic kidney disease.
Bariatric Center of Excellence Designation
Saint Barnabas was named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by The American Society for Bariatric Surgery. Distinguished for its outstanding quality of care, low complication rate and high level of surgical experience, the center was recognized for its track record of exceptional patient outcomes in bariatric surgery.
Sleep Center Receives National Accreditation
The Center for Sleep Disorders at Saint Barnabas Medical Center received program accreditation from the Academy of Sleep Medicine after meeting rigorous standards in all areas of operation, including patient services and employee qualifications.
Pediatric Nephrology Marks 10-Years
The Pediatric Nephrology and Transplantation Program, the first complete pediatric nephrology service in the state, marked its Ten Year Anniversary. Over the last decade, the program has performed more than 80 kidney transplants in patients between 10 months and 19 years of age with excellent results.
Stroke Center Established
To save lives and reduce stroke's damaging effects, The Stroke Center at Saint Barnabas and Wallerstein Family Stroke Program launched and include a team of caring experts ranging from neurologists to nurses to rehabilitation specialists. By using consistent treatment plans and protocols, state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, and the very latest treatments for stroke, Saint Barnabas aims to provide faster, more effective care that will improve outcomes and reduce death and disability from stroke.
Residency Among Elite Group
The Internal Medicine Residency is among an elite group of 21 programs (of 388 nationwide) to be selected to participate in the Educational Innovations Project - a pilot study of the Internal Medicine Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. It is designed to enhance the flexibility of successful programs in charting the future of internal medicine graduate medical education.
