Oncology Services
Diagnostic and therapeutic breakthroughs in chemotherapy, hormone therapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted cancer therapies are driving advances in the field of medical oncology.
At the J. Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center, these cancer-fighting medications and therapies are provided in both inpatient and outpatient settings where patients receive individualized care.
Inpatient Oncology Unit
Community Medical Center’s oncology unit provides care to patients diagnosed with cancer, offered in a comforting and supportive environment by a team of highly trained nurses and other specially skilled health care professionals.
While most patients are admitted to the unit for active cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, biotherapy, radiation therapy and radioactive implants, others are given specialized care to alleviate their symptoms and control complications of the disease or treatment, as well as receive end-of-life care.
Outpatient Infusion Center
Designed for patient comfort and convenience, the Outpatient Infusion Center provides a full range of intravenous procedures for cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, transfusions of blood and blood products, therapeutic phlebotomy and antibiotic infusions. The center’s staff is committed to providing quality infusion care and excellence in service, keeping abreast of current developments and trends in the field of infusion therapy.
The new, comfortable suite includes private rooms and personal televisions for patients receiving outpatient treatment. Additionally, lunch and snacks are served, and patient education is provided.
