A Long History of Pediatric Trauma Care

Our pediatric trauma centers have a long history of treating injured children, and when it comes to caring for seriously injured children, we are pleased to provide the sophisticated services of our trauma centers, which include our pediatric surgeons from all specialties, available at a moment’s notice to perform surgery on critically ill patients.

With one of the first American College of Surgeons (ACS) designated Pediatric Trauma Centers in New Jersey, our facilities have become the state’s resource for the care of injured children in our region, from acute pediatric trauma care to injury prevention and trauma education.

We have made certain that every injured child in New Jersey has a dedicated facility that is always ready for them. We provide this safety net of care through a vast array of facilities staffed with medical professionals who are compassionate and family-centered. And our medical teams will stay up-to-date with your child’s care, following the entire trauma spectrum, from EMS responders in the field through pediatric trauma resuscitation, critical care, and recovery, including pediatric rehabilitation.

Some of the highlights of our Pediatric Trauma Program are:

  • Programs including pediatric transport, child life and family support, pediatric social work, child protective services, pediatric injury prevention, and community outreach and education of health professionals.
  • Quality care that expands the entire pediatric trauma spectrum from EMS responders, through pediatric trauma resuscitation, critical care, and recovery.
  • Nurses with advanced training in pediatric trauma care.
  • Prevention of childhood injuries through our Injury Prevention Program.
  • A state resource for the care of injured children in our region.
