Pediatrics Department

Home to a 26-bed inpatient Pediatric Unit, Clara Maass Medical Center offers a child-friendly atmosphere that treats both acute and general pediatric conditions. More than 60 attending pediatricians on staff meet the needs of the pediatric patients and their families.

The Pediatric Unit has a Child Life Specialist and a Playroom—equipped with video games, a TV with DVD/VCR, and age appropriate videos—for hospitalized children. The Pediatric Emergency Department and the Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provide specialized care.

Coblation for removal of tonsils and adenoids, a gentle and less painful procedure than traditional methods, is a frequently performed pediatric surgery at Clara Maass. Clara Maass also offers specialized ophthalmology treatments and procedures as well as a pediatric emergency area for young patients.

Clara Maass has a variety of attending pediatric specialists, and access to other pediatric specialists is available through RWJBarnabas Health depending on the diagnosis.
