The Safe House is an emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children located in Essex County. A 24-hour hotline provides timely and immediate assistance. Admission can be obtained by calling the Hotline. The Safe House provides shelter in a safe and supportive environment for families in crisis and provides the help, education, advocacy & guidance needed to empower women to live safe and productive lives. Also provided are emergency medical treatment; emotional support; short-term counseling to those in crisis and assistance with welfare, child care, vocational and educational referrals; legal advocacy; housing advocacy; help in police and court proceedings, and nutritional meals.
