Outpatient Services
The Cardiology Outpatient Clinic is located on the 5th floor in the Lester
Z. Lieberman Center for Ambulatory Care. All services are available by
appointment Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. While a
primary cardiologist follows each patient's case, the collective expertise
of all the cardiologists is available to every patient. The department
is staffed by a team of experienced cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons,
pediatric nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and many other cardiac
and medical technicians.
The following services are provided within the Cardiology clinic:
- Outpatient consultation and follow-up visits
- Echocardiograms
- EKGs
- Event recordings
- Holter monitoring
- Pacemaker analysis and programming
- Exercise testing
- Fetal echocardiograms and prenatal consultation
Patients scheduled for
cardiothoracic surgery
and
cardiac catheterization
are also evaluated in the Cardiology clinic. During the pre-admission
visit, the patient's medical history is reviewed and a physical examination
is performed or updated. Blood tests, EKG, and chest x-ray are usually
ordered and completed in the same session. In addition, a tour of the
facilities with age-appropriate explanations for child-patient helps to
allay much of the anxiety or concerns they might have before their surgery.
