The Division of Ophthalmology offers complete facilities for the testing and treatment of inherited or acquired eye diseases and vision problems in children. Our pediatric ophthalmologists have extensive expertise in pediatric ocular trauma and ocular genetics and provide eye exams, eye surgery, surgical opinions and long-term care for undefinedinfants, children and adolescents with eye or eye-related problems. The Division provides sophisticated ocular evaluations of infants and pre-verbal children and works closely with other pediatric specialties such as Speech and Hearing and Child Development. Services range from basic eye exams provided in an outpatient setting to complicated surgical procedures including:

  • Corneal transplantation
  • Congenital and juvenile cataract extraction with lens implants
  • Congenital glaucoma
  • Strabismus (crossed eyes)
  • Amblyopia
  • Correction of ptosis (droopy lids)
  • Retinopathy of prematurity (can cause blindness in premature infants)
