The Departments of Pediatrics at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and The Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center are seeking a board-certified Pediatric Nephrologist to join our team working in both Livingston and Newark.

Both centers have a total of 51 Pediatric inpatient beds, 135 NICU beds and 31 ICU beds. This physician will be joining an expanding team of 2 Pediatric Nephrologists, 2 Registered Nurses, and 1 full-time, Social Worker. This position will focus on cultivating the continued development of our Pediatric Nephrology team, in addition to, opportunities for personal career growth. 

The successful applicant will spend the bulk of their time in clinical care at either institution and would be expected to round at the various dialysis facilities affiliated with our division. Our team works together with the Kidney Transplant Center at RWJ Barnabas Hospital, one of the largest in the nation. Knowledge of kidney transplantation, kidney biopsy procedures, and the various dialysis modalities is expected.

Clinical duties will be flexible and include daily outpatient clinics and inpatient attending and consult responsibilities for the Barnabas Health Children’s Kidney Center service. This position requires a strong commitment to teaching and education of medical students, pediatric residents, as well as other members of the multidisciplinary Nephrology team.  The position is available immediately.

Candidate requirements:

  • D./D.O. degree
  • Must be BC/BE in pediatric nephrology with sufficient fellowship training
  • NJ licensed or eligibility for NJ licensure

About Department of Pediatrics at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center:

We offer the expertise of a specialized team of physicians, including, neonatologists, pediatric critical care physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, child life coordinators, social workers and all other health care professionals dedicated to the well-being of the patients we serve. Virtually every major pediatric sub-specialty service is represented in the Pediatrics Department, including allergy, cardiology, child development, emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, genetics, hematology/oncology, immunology, infectious diseases, intensive care, neonatology, nephrology, neurology, pulmonology and rheumatology. Surgical specialty areas include craniofacial surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedic, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, transplant and urology. The attending staff includes more than 250 pediatric practitioners, and an integrated residency program with the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Our new state-of-the-art $8 million McMullen Children’s Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center is a “hospital within a hospital” designed to meet the medical and emotional needs of young patients. Pediatric inpatient services, including a 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, are centralized within one area of the Medical Center. The Children’s Center offers the latest technologies, child-friendly patient rooms and a cheerfully-decorated playroom, family friendly lounges and lobbies, a parent overnight room, sibling play areas and access to the finest pediatric care available.

Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (CHoNJ) offers specialized treatment for pediatric patients who are either injured or have ailing health.
