Kerri Berson Levine Named Board Chair of Opportunity ProjectMILLBURN, NJ – March 11, 2025 – Opportunity Project is pleased to announce that Kerri Berson Levine has been elected to serve as Chair of its Board of Trustees effective immediately.

Mrs. Levine has played a critical role in advancing the mission of Opportunity Project through her various leadership positions, including Board Treasurer since 2015 and recently as Interim Board Chair. In this continued capacity, she will advise and support the organization in various initiatives that align with its long-term strategic plan.

“I am so proud of the work Opportunity Project provides every day,” said Mrs. Levine. “Each person whose life is touched by the organization’s mission to provide programs and services for survivors of brain injury is a testament to my father’s vision, and that of his co-founders and Vice Presidents of the Board – Lisa Goldman and Rita Yohalem.”

Opportunity Project was established after Mrs. Levine’s brother Gary (son of co-founder and Chairman Emeritus Marc Berson and co-founder Rita Yohalem), almost lost his life in a serious automobile accident and after co-founder Lisa Goldman’s son Danny’s life was forever changed by a brain tumor. For over 30 years, Opportunity Project has provided programs and services to people who have sustained a brain injury and to their families. In addition, Opportunity Project leads regional and national awareness initiatives for communities, schools and corporations.

“I am beyond thrilled that Mrs. Levine has been elected to serve as Board Chair of Opportunity Project,” said Eduardo Plata, Executive Director of Opportunity Project. “Her extraordinary leadership, effectiveness, and dedication to our mission have been instrumental in establishing Opportunity Project as a pioneer in the brain injury field and providing critical programs for individuals with brain injuries. We are looking forward to advancing the strategic plan under the leadership of Mrs. Levine and Opportunity Project’s esteemed Board of Trustees, in partnership with Children’s Specialized Hospital.”

Mrs. Levine is Principal of The Fidelco Realty Group and a dedicated philanthropist, focused on improving the vitality of inner-city neighborhoods throughout the tristate area, particularly in Newark. Philanthropically, in addition to her role as Board Chair of Opportunity Project, Mrs. Levine serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Zoological Society of NJ where she is committed to providing excellence in wildlife education and wildlife conservation. She is a member of the College of Arts and Science Dean’s Advisory Council at New York University, and member of the advisory board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union Counties. Mrs. Levine is also co-founder of GIRLTALK #takeover, an initiative benefiting inner-city females ages 8-16 focusing on beauty, community exposure, and female health and wellness.
