Hamilton Township, NJ, September 24, 2024 – This October, Hamilton Township and surrounding Mercer County municipalities will be awash in a sea of pink when the Young Professionals Group and Development Committee at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJUH Hamilton), an RWJBarnabas Health facility, launches its inaugural Paint the Town Pink campaign to spread awareness about breast cancer and the importance of annual mammograms. Funds raised during special events and activities held throughout the month with community partners like Carella’s Chocolates, Front and Center Dance Studio, Haldeman Ford, HamiLatte, Primo Hoagies and Sky Zone Hamilton, will support the Cancer Center at RWJUH Hamilton. RWJUH Hamilton, together with Rutgers Cancer Institute, the state’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, provides access to the most advanced treatment options close to home.

“We cannot stress enough the importance of breast cancer screening and early detection,” says Lisa Breza, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, Chief Administrative Officer for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton. “RWJUH Hamilton is excited to partner with the communities we serve to spread awareness and raise funds for our patients and the comprehensive breast care services we provide through our nationally recognized breast program. And we are always so appreciative of how the Young Professional Group supports the services at the hospital including the Cancer Center at RWJUH Hamilton.”

The 5th Annual Paint the Bar Pink, hosted by the Young Professionals Group of RWJUH Hamilton, is Paint the Town Pink’s signature event and will be held on Thursday, October 10, at Killarney’s Publick House, located at 1644 Whitehorse Mercerville Road in Hamilton Township. This always highly anticipated event will include local celebrity bartenders, fun fundraising games, a buffet dinner, specialty “pink drinks,” and community comradery.   • Throughout October, For the second year, Hamilton Township Firefighter’s Mutual Benevolent Association (Hamilton FMBA) will be supporting the Cancer Center at RWJUH Hamilton through a t-shirt sale. T-shirts can be purchased at www.rwjbh.org/paintthetown. The Hamilton FMBA and Hamilton Police Benevolent Association are also co-hosting their annual soccer match at 7 p.m. on October 4 at Veteran’s Park Soccer Field. Admission is free.
  • October 3, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., RWJUH Hamilton Community Education will host “In Your Breast Interest: Dinner with Doctors,” featuring our RWJUH Hamilton Cancer Center physicians: Firas G. Eladoumikdachi (Eladou), MD, FACS, Breast Surgical Oncology; Rachana Singh, MD, Clinical Director of Radiation Oncology; and Meera Yogarajah, MD, Medical Oncology. This free event will be held at RWJ Fitness & Wellness Center, Center for Health & Wellness, 3100 Quakerbridge Road, Hamilton. All are welcome and registration is required.   • October 9, 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., RWJUH Hamilton is inviting its team members, medical staff, supporters, donors, and community members to join them by wearing this year’s special Paint the Town Pink t-shirts in order to create a living “Circle of Hope” at the Cancer Center, located at 2575 Klockner Avenue in Hamilton, which will be photographed to amplify the system’s message, “Let’s beat cancer together.” A themed shirt can be purchased in advance at www.rwjbh.org/paintthetown.   • October 15, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., RWJUH Hamilton Community Education will host Cecilia Gomez, BS, Community Cancer Control Specialist, RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute, who will present “Breast/Chest Health.” This presentation will cover the basics of breast cancer, screening guidelines, health disparities, diet and lifestyle, and genetic counseling. This free event will be held at RWJ Fitness & Wellness Center, Center for Health & Wellness, 3100 Quakerbridge Road, Hamilton. All are welcome and registration is required.
