West Orange, NJ – October 23, 2024 – RWJBarnabas Health, the state’s largest academic health system, has announced the appointment of Conor Barrett, MD, MBA, to the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer for Heart and Vascular Services. Dr. Barrett will play an instrumental role in guiding the growth and expansion of this key service line at facilities throughout the system. His focus will be on support and optimization of patient-care delivery to those already within RWJBarnabas Health, as well as growing the opportunities for others to access the health system’s Heart and Vascular excellence.

Dr. Barrett was most recently at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he served as Associate Chief for Cardiology, Director of Clinical Operations and Strategy, and Physician Director of Network Development and Integration for the facility’s Heart Center.
After earning his medical degree and completing medical and cardiology fellowship training in his native Ireland, Dr. Barrett completed an advanced fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology at Cleveland Clinic. He was later recruited to Massachusetts General Hospital in 2008 and joined Mount Sinai Health System in New York City in 2013, rising to the position of Associate Chief of Cardiology and Director of Clinical Operations at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals. He returned to Massachusetts General Hospital in 2016 as the clinical director of the Cardiac Arrhythmia Service and was subsequently promoted to his most recent leadership roles in their Heart Center. As a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist, Dr. Barrett specializes in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders. As well as having participated in numerous clinical trials and having performed extensive research on the treatment of complex arrhythmias, he has also focused on executing strategic cardiovascular transformation initiatives.
