RWJBarnabas Health proudly presented The Institute for Nursing Excellence at a ribbon cutting ceremony recently and its state-of-the-art facilities at The Eisenhower, located at 290 W Mount Pleasant Ave., Livingston, NJ, and at Squier Hall at Fort Monmouth in Oceanport. Each facility is home to The Institute with large spacious classrooms coupled with high fidelity simulation labs to host regional orientation, specialty courses and other educational opportunities to our nursing workforce.
In healthcare, strong nursing ensures good health not just for hospitals and systems but ultimately for patients. This is the thinking behind a key framework called RWJBH - The Institute for Nursing Excellence™. “Our goal is to build and sustain a nursing workforce that’s representative of the communities we serve through new knowledge and innovations that help improve outcomes for patients and families, reduce costs and provide greater access to care,” says Nancy Holecek, MAS, MHA, BSN, RN, FNAP, Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, RWJBH.
At the ceremony Mark E., Manigan, President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, “I truly believe RWJBarnabas Health nurses and the outstanding care they provide every day sets our health system apart from others, and is a reason why our patients continue to choose us to be their partners in health. I am proud of the extraordinary team of world-class physicians and world-class nurses, and I personally feel there is no better place to be a nurse leader, a nurse, or a nurse educator than our health system.”
Under the leadership of Mary Beth Russell PhD, MA, RN, NPDA-BC, NEA-BC, FNAP, CPHQ, Senior Vice President, The Center for Professional Development, Innovation, Research & The Institute for Nursing Excellence, this vision became a reality. Dr. Russell created and implemented the Institute for Nursing Excellence as a framework for innovative and standardized education across the entire RWJBH system, providing contemporary methodologies and access to learn real life scenarios to foster professional growth and development in the dynamic world of nursing.
RWJBarnabas Health has made investments in various teaching tools to enhance our nurses’ professional growth from simulation, the Nursing Orientation Unit for RN Integration, Support & Health, NOURISH™ Program, our first trademarked orientation program at RWJBH, to our nurse-residency programs, and will continue to add to the strong foundation for nursing we have created and provide the educational resources for them to become stewards of their profession.
From nursing students to experienced nurses, we are providing opportunities to advance Nursing as an art and a science.
