Lakewood - Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus's CCU staff led by Kathy Marino, Director, Patient Care, ICU/CCU, were recognized by family members who were able to cherish the final moments of their father's life with care and respect. The family thanked everyone on the unit with "endless appreciation" who cared for their father and witnessed the incredible care and dedication of the nursing team.
"How great is our appreciation for all you did and the many times you went out of your way to show sensitivity and accommodate our religious needs, thus ensuring we were able to attend to the spiritual aspects as our father returned his soul to his place of eternal life and reward," the family wrote.
Congratulations to all for such a wonderful honor!

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation was formed by the family of Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), an auto-immune disease. His widow, Tena, (a DAISY Co-founder) created the acronym, and the Foundation and established the DAISY Recognition Program to honor the super-human work nurses do every day at the bedside.
