Community Medical Center marked an important milestone recently, celebrating the graduation of their first group of Medical Education Residents. The residents, who came to the hospital in Toms River, NJ from all over the world, spent three years learning from Community Medical Center physicians and clinical experts, gaining skills and experience that will help them as the newest generation of physicians. The graduates will go on to complete fellowships, go into private practice, or become faculty members themselves to help educate residents at Community Medical Center.
Since the program began in 2021, over 100 physicians have joined the academic medical center in their emergency medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, podiatric medicine, and transitional year residency programs. As part of the RWJBarnabas Health system, the programs benefit from the resources and interprofessional opportunities available through RWJBarnabas Health’s institutional sponsorship with Rutgers Health.
