Jan 24, 2024 Jersey City Medical Center and Liberty Science Center Seek Science Fair Judges for Hudson County STEM Showcase

Volunteers Needed to Evaluate More than 400 Science Projects from Local Students on March 11, 2024

Jersey City, NJ (January 24, 2024) – Jersey City Medical Center, RWJBarnabas Health, and Liberty Science Center are recruiting 100+ judges to participate in the 2023-2024 Hudson County STEM Showcase—the largest science fair in Hudson County!

The STEM Showcase is an annual event that celebrates the scientific and engineering achievements of public, private, and charter school students in grades 5-12. The Showcase allows students to present their original research projects to a panel of judges and compete for awards and scholarships.

Judges must attend an in-person STEM Showcase on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Liberty Science Center, 222 Jersey City Boulevard in Jersey City. Judges will be assigned based on their level of education, field of study, and professional experience. Judges will review and evaluate science projects in 22 categories, ranging from animal sciences to translational medical science.

"We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math and who want to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders," said Michael Prilutsky, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jersey City Medical Center, a facility of RWJBarnabas Health, New Jersey's largest integrated healthcare delivery system. "The STEM Showcase is an incredible way to invest in Hudson County by showcasing students' talent and creativity while supporting their academic and career aspirations, reinforcing our commitment to educational excellence."

“Liberty Science Center is proud to host the STEM Showcase and to partner with Jersey City Medical Center and RWJBarnabas Health to promote STEM education and innovation in Hudson County,” said Paul Hoffman, the President and CEO of Liberty Science Center. “The STEM Showcase is not only a competition but also a celebration of our students' curiosity and ingenuity. We invite judges to join us in this exciting and rewarding event.”

To register to participate as a judge, interested individuals may complete a brief online questionnaire no later than Friday, February 9, 2024.

No special training is required to be a judge, and lunch and refreshments will be provided.
