US News High Performing Maternity 2025West Orange, NJ, December 10, 2024 – U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice, has recognized six RWJBarnabas Health facilities among the 2024 – 2025 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care. The prestigious list identifies hospitals that provide high-quality maternity care for uncomplicated pregnancies. Community Medical Center, Monmouth Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, and Trinitas Regional Medical Center, all RWJBarnabas Health facilities, were among those designated as High Performing in maternity care.

Best Hospitals for Maternity Care is an annual evaluation designed to assist expectant parents, in consultation with their prenatal care team, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care that best meets their family’s needs. It is the highest recognition that a maternity hospital can earn from U.S. News & World Report.

These include TeamBirth, which supports provider and patient communication for an enhanced birthing experience and better outcomes; Centering Pregnancy, which offers clinically led group prenatal care for moms with similar due dates; and patient-centered, integrated care to improve engagement and retention of pregnant and parenting women in substance use disorder treatment programs.

U.S. News evaluated 680 hospitals from across the nation that provide labor and delivery services and submitted detailed data to the publication for analysis. Fewer than half of hospitals that provide maternity care and participated in the survey received a High Performing designation.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals for Maternity Care methodology is based entirely on objective measures of quality, such as C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, newborn complication rates, exclusive breastfeeding rates, early elective delivery rates, birthing-friendly practices and transparency on racial/ethnic disparities, among other measures.
