You may have heard of ‘robotic surgery’ for orthopedic procedures, but what does that actually mean? What are the benefits? Dr. Christopher Passariello, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon at Community Medical Center (CMC) and a member of the RWJBarnabas Health medical group, answered questions about robotic orthopedic surgery on 92.7 WOBM FM.
In addition to orthopedic procedures, surgeons at CMC use robotic surgery for gynecology, gyn/oncology, urology, general, colorectal and orthopedic surgical procedures. CMC’s Robotic Surgery Program features two daVinci Robotic Surgery programs, including the latest generation da Vinci Xi, and the Mako robotic arm-assisted system for joint replacement surgery. CMC is accredited as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation. The hospital was the third in New Jersey to be granted the accreditation, and has maintained it since 2018.
