This is the highest distinction a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings. RWJUH Hamilton’s COPD program is a multidisciplinary approach that involves the complete continuum of care for COPD prevention, recognition and treatment. RWJBarnabas Health Institute for Prevention and Recovery and Rutgers Cancer Institute, each of which is important and vital for the program’s overall success. The focus is on early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, smoking cessation, and early follow up after hospitalization. The latest addition is pulmonary rehabilitation, which should further enhance the services offered.
This program is closely integrated with the Lung Cancer Screening program for this "at-risk" population with comprehensive oncology at the Cancer Center at RWJUH Hamilton, committed to promoting the early detection of lung cancer. The Lung Cancer Screening program is designated as a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology.
U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience.
