Aug 22, 2024 Monmouth Medical Center Names New Chief Nursing Officer

Ann M. Szapor, MBA, BSN, RN, NEA-BC,

Long Branch, NJ, August 26, 2024 – Monmouth Medical Center (MMC) has named Ann M. Szapor, MBA, BSN, RN, NEA-BC, who has nine years’ experience as a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Vice President of Nursing with Magnet-designated facilities, to its top nursing leadership role. As CNO, Szapor, is responsible for the operational clinical practice, education and research delivered through nursing clinical services at MMC.

She joins MMC from Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, the largest not-for-profit health system in southeast Texas, were she served as Chief Nursing Officer since 2017. Prior to that, she served as CNO for Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala, FL.

From 2009 to 2014, she served as Assistant Vice President for AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, where she also served as Executive Director, Women's/Children's Health Services. Szapor began her nurse leadership career as Assistant Head Nurse and Staff Development Instructor at MMC’s sister RWJBarnabas Health hospital, Community Medical Center in Toms River.

On August 12th, MMC learned it had been re-designated as a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), becoming the first hospital in New Jersey and 11th in the nation to earn Magnet Recognition with Distinction®.

Szapor earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Villanova University and a Master’s of Business Administration degree from St. Joseph’s University. She has earned Advanced Nurse Executive Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and membership in the American Organization of Nurse Leaders. She also is an Academy Fellow for the Health Care Advisory Board.
