Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist Renuka Verma, M.D., has been named MMC Physician of the Month for May. Presenting the award is Chief Medical Officer Kenneth Granet, M.D. They were joined for the presentation members of the hospital’s senior leadership and team members from the Pediatric Unit.
Long Branch, NJ, June 20, 2023 – Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist Renuka Verma, M.D., who serves as Program Director for Monmouth Medical Center’s Pediatric Residency Program, is the hospital’s June Physician of the Month. Dr. Verma was praised for being a team player who also supports nursing and The Unterberg Children’s Hospital in every way she can.
Among the additional comments received in Dr. Verma’s nominations were:

She has many roles as a practicing physician in infectious disease (ID), responsibilities of overseeing the Pediatric Residency Program, and being a resource to hospital ID when questions arise regarding disease management.”

“Dr. Verma actively participates in hospital and systemwide committees devoted to infection control and antibiotic stewardship. She holds national positions with the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Board of Pediatrics and also is a staunch advocate for the children of our community, devoting her time to initiatives that benefit the underserved. She does all this while being Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program. Her efforts have led to our program having the top pediatric board passage rate in the state. As such, other programs turn to her for advice. I am honored to nominate her as physician of the month – indeed she should be physician of the year.”
