Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC)’s recently renovated Emergency Department (ED) enables the hospital to provide faster, safer, and more efficient care than ever before, with the ability to accommodate approximately 130,000 adult and pediatric patients annually.
Although New Jersey has previously been known for longer ED wait times on average, CBMC — part of RWJBarnabas Health and one of eleven hospitals in Essex County — has added beds and staff to dramatically improve efficiencies overall.
The lighter and brighter 25,000-square-foot ED now boasts 101 patient beds, a 53 percent increase from its previous capacity, which effectively eliminates the need for hallway beds during peak times and aligns with the hospital’s efforts to accommodate increasing patient volumes.
