Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, was recognized as “high performing” in the treatment of five procedures and conditions in U.S. News & World Report’s 2022-2023 Best Hospitals rankings and ratings which were released today. The hospital was recognized for the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), diabetes, heart failure, kidney failure and stroke.

The U.S. News ratings were the latest national recognitions for the hospital’s quality care. The hospital has been designated three consecutive times as a Magnet® hospital for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center – the nation’s most prestigious nursing honor.
RWJUH Somerset was recently recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association with the 2022 Get With the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll. It received 5-star ratings in 2022 from Healthgrades for pacemaker procedures and bowel obstruction.
The hospital has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for total knee and total hip replacement surgery; acute myocardial infarction and stroke and is designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. In addition, it is accredited as a Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation.
RWJUH Somerset’s Steeplechase Cancer Center has been nationally accredited by the Commission on Cancer. For seven years in a row, the hospital - the first in New Jersey to offer specialized primary care services for the LGBTQ+ community - has been named a Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
