(New Brunswick, NJ) - Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH), an RWJBarnabas Health facility, has named Courtney Vose, DNP, MBA, RN, APRN, NEA-BC, FAAN Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
With more than two decades of clinical, C-suite, academic and management experience, Dr. Vose is a proven leader and expert in driving nursing excellence and research. She will draw on her experience overseeing nursing and patient care at nationally distinguished academic medical centers to advance care at New Jersey’s largest academic medical center.
In her new role, Dr. Vose is responsible for integration and coordination of nursing practices across all service lines, including operational clinical practice, patient experience, education and research. Her reputation for cultivating a high-performing nursing culture complements the RWJUH reputation for nursing excellence, as one of only seven programs in the world to receive Magnet Nursing Recognition six consecutive times.

Dr. Vose joins RWJUH from New York-Presbyterian (NYP)/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NYP/Allen Hospital and NYP/Ambulatory Care Network-West, where she served as Vice President and CNO since 2014. She also served as Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing at the Columbia University School of Nursing with whom she partnered to help create their Academic Practice Research Fellowship.
Dr. Vose has also held a number of leadership roles at Lehigh Valley Health Network, including Administrator, Patient Care Services and Director, Emergency Services. She started her career as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Temple University Hospital before joining Sacred Heart Hospital in both clinical and leadership roles. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Vose earned her Master of Science in Nursing/Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner from Temple University. She then received her Master of Business Administration and Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from DeSales University.
