Trinitas Regional Medical Center CEO Gary S. Horan, FACHE, announced today the resumption of a number of elective procedures at its Elizabeth facility. "Today we take a big step toward normalcy with the reopening of elective surgery, endoscopy, cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology and other procedures," he explained, adding, "Each day the number of COVID patients decreases and non-COVID patients increases. Things are slowly getting back to normal here at Trinitas and throughout the region."
Earlier this week the Medical Center reopened the Connie Dwyer Breast Center at Trinitas, once again providing women with mammograms and other breast diagnostic procedures. Trinitas' numerous clinics are due to reopen on June 1st.
Horan stated, "We have been preparing for this day for many weeks, and with Governor Murphy’s executive order allowing hospitals to again provide critical diagnostic testing, elective and invasive procedures, we encourage our community to look after their health concerns." He noted that care provided by the Emergency Department and the Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center never ceased during the time the Governor's executive orders were in effect.
Horan reinforced that the community should feel safe coming to Trinitas for any health need. "Throughout the Medical Center we’ve put in place a very strict, seven-step process to protect our patients and staff with enhanced virus prevention safeguards and sanitation procedures."
These include mandatory masking and a temperature check for everyone entering the facility, restrictions on visiting, use of social distancing measures, the placement of Plexiglas and other barriers in registration and patient care areas, use of personal protective equipment, and a rigorous cleaning and sanitizing process that includes gold standard procedures such as advanced ultraviolet technology.
"We’re pleased to reopen these services with patient safety as our focal point," Horan concluded.
