Five Saint Barnabas Medical Center (SBMC) physicians were selected by the SBMC Medical Staff and the Physician Collaboration Committee to receive the prestigious 2019 Physician Excellence in Health Care Award for embracing the organization’s mission of compassionate care, health care excellence and superior service. The award recipients include: Eric Handler, DO, Francis John Gialanella, MD, Jean Anderson Eloy, MD, James K. Liu, MD, and Gregory J. Rokosz, DO, JD.
These physicians were honored because of their contribution to the medical center’s patient safety and quality goals by exhibiting a personal commitment and demonstrating leadership in contributing to health care excellence. They maintain the highest ethical standards and participate in opportunities for professional development.

Nominations for this award are made by clinicians and allied leaders, as well as leaders serving on patient safety collaborative, performance improvement committees and initiatives.
