Jun 8, 2018 Livingston Chamber of Commerce Honors Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Business of the Year, and Margie Heller, Civic Leader of the Year

SBMC Chamber Award(Livingston, NJ) Saint Barnabas Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health flagship facility, has been named the Business of the Year by the Livingston Chamber of Commerce. “Saint Barnabas Medical Center is integrally involved in the Livingston Community. Just last year, we participated and/or supported 145 local events such as the Diversity Festival, Youth Appreciation Week (YAW), Bike Livingston and Summerfest,” states Stephen P. Zieniewicz, FACHE, President and CEO.

This recognition follows the Medical Center being named one of only 49 hospitals in the United States to receive straight A’s from the Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit hospital watchdog organization. Saint Barnabas Medical Center is the only hospital in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Rhode Island to have received an ‘A’ grade since the program’s inception in 2012.

Saint Barnabas’ nationally recognized facilities include the Kidney Transplant Division which is the third largest program in the United States. The Living Donor Institute within the Division is the largest such program in the nation. The Regional Perinatal Center, providing care for high-risk and critically ill infants is New Jersey’s leading Level III, 56-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the only certified Burn Center in New Jersey. “We are proud to deliver best-in-class medical care at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. We thank the members of the Livingston Chamber of Commerce for this important recognition,” remarked Mr. Zieniewicz.

Margie Heller, Civic Leader of the YearThe Livingston Chamber of Commerce also named Margie Heller, System Administrator of Global Health at RWJBarnabas Health and the Administrative Director of Community Health and Outreach for Saint Barnabas Medical Center, the Livingston Civic Leader of the Year. “From a young-age, community service was engrained in me. I was fortunate to have very strong community minded role models, including my father, mother, and aunt. My work at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and on behalf of RWJBarnabas Health is a natural extension of my passion for community service,” says Ms. Heller. “We congratulate Margie on this well-deserved honor. Her leadership and commitment to improving the health and well-being in the community is exemplary,” states Mr. Zieniewicz.

A very active member of Essex County, Ms. Heller sits on a variety of boards including, the West Essex YMCA, Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce, Valerie Fund, Kessler Stroll ‘N Roll, and The American Heart Association Executive Leadership Team. She has always had a passion for helping others and is dedicated to making our community healthy and well. She has been recognized for her community service through a variety of awards including the Althea Gibson Leadership Award presented by Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr.

Globally, Ms. Heller has successfully co-led three disaster relief missions in Puerto Rico and continually collaborates with Rutgers University, international non-governmental organizations, medical schools in the United States and abroad to address health priorities in under-resourced countries. Ms. Heller resides in Roseland with her family.
