Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center
The Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey is the state’s first and only freestanding cancer hospital and one of thirteen such facilities across the nation. The 12-story, 520,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility houses inpatient and outpatient cancer services coupled with research laboratories, retail space and ancillary services devoted to patient health and wellness. The Morris Cancer Center includes the wide-ranging, advanced cancer care services offered by New Jersey’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health – all under one roof.
Outpatient cancer services are expected to begin in the late spring of 2025 with inpatient care beginning at the end of the summer.
The Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center is named in recognition of the philanthropic leadership of Jack Morris, who has been a longtime supporter and pillar in New Jersey development, and his wife, Sheryl.
Comprehensive Cancer Care and Support for Patients and Families
Built with the patient at the center of everything, the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center provides an exceptional patient experience in a warm and welcoming comprehensive environment. It houses 88 state-of-the-art infusion chairs and 80 exam rooms for adults and pediatrics, as well as 96 private inpatient rooms, nine operating rooms, radiology, imaging resources in the building, state-of-the-art MRI, CAT scan, PET scan, four brand new linear accelerators (LINAC) including an MRI LINAC, a brachytherapy suite for radiation therapy delivery, and interventional radiology suites.
As an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, patients at the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center have access to the most advanced cancer treatments including clinical trials, cellular therapies, precision medicine, blood and marrow transplantation, complex surgical procedures and sophisticated radiation therapy techniques.
Connected by a skybridge to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, a world-class academic acute care hospital, patients at the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center have easy access to exceptional specialists and acute care expertise in all medical fields, many that cancer patients often require.

Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health oncologists and care teams

Center in the late spring of 2025. Patients will be informed of their
appointment location in their MyChart account and via appointment reminders
from their providers. The grand opening of New Jersey’s First Freestanding
Cancer Hospital will provide an exceptional experience to enhance healing

Science and Research
Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health are at the forefront of cancer research bringing the latest discoveries to clinical practice. The Morris Cancer Center will house 10 additional research laboratories to compliment the 35 research laboratories located at Rutgers Cancer Institute which is connected with a skybridge. In addition, clinical trials infrastructure enhances the translation of our discoveries to clinical trials in a more rapid fashion.
State-of-the-Art Technology
From diagnostic facilities to on-site laboratories, from surgical rooms to research facilities, the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center houses state-of-the-art medical technology. Advanced technology includes a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) linear accelerator, CAT scan, PET scan, four brand new linear accelerators (LINAC) including an MRI LINAC brachytherapy, mammography machines, computed tomography (CT) and more. The building integrates smart technology for efficiency.

The Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center is the cornerstone of a transformative $1.5 billion investment in oncology by RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute -leveraging the power of partnership to change the face of cancer. Focused on new facilities to provide access to the highest level of care closer to home; recruitment of exceptional nationally recognized cancer specialists; and advancement of groundbreaking research, together we will transform the way to diagnose, treat and prevent cancer.
In addition to the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, the Melchiorre Cancer Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, scheduled to open in the Fall 2025, will be a 137,000 square foot freestanding cancer center and serve as our northern hub. The Specialty and Cancer Care Center on the Vogel Medical Campus will open in 2026. Together, these facilities create destinations across the state of New Jersey that are fully integrated with each other and along with the 12 hospitals that make up our health system and the other outpatient facilities throughout.
