Since our founding in 1808, education has been a key part of our commitment. We were the founder of one of the first pediatric residencies in the country and were the site of New Jersey's First Academic Medical University. Since then, our medical professionals have made historical contributions to the world of health care, including the work of Dr. Edmund Burke (surgery), Dr. Samuel Cosgrove (obstetrics), Dr. Anthony Damato (heart electrophysiology), and Dr. Carroll Leevy (liver disease).
Jersey City Medical Center is a teaching affiliate and a member of Americas Essential Hospitals.
