Gain Access to the Latest Cancer Care with Clinical Trials
Our cancer centers provide access to leading edge clinical trials for patients with various forms of cancer. Our cancer specialists work closely with scientists and researchers to bring our patients access to cutting-edge therapies.
The main purpose of a clinical trial is to find a better way to prevent, diagnose or treat a disease. Clinical trials are part of a long, careful research process. Patients who participate in a clinical trial receive drugs or procedures that already have been researched in successful laboratory studies.
To attain access to the latest in cancer treatment, RWJBarnabas Health has partnered with the Rutgers Cancer Institute. This partnership allows for Rutgers Cancer Institute physicians and scientists to work side by side with our clinicians to ensure that the most sophisticated treatments are delivered to our patients. Enrollment in clinical trials is always voluntary, and any participant can leave a clinical trial at any time. Before enrolling, study investigators are required to provide trial participants with all the information about the study being conducted and its possible effects. This ongoing educational dialogue between patient and doctor is known as informed consent.
We are committed to offering our patients the most advanced and most promising therapies and treatments for cancer. As a result, our patients may participate in clinical trials to receive innovative therapies that are shaping the future of cancer care. For patients with metastatic disease and unresponsive cancers, clinical trials offer additional options for treatment to control the spread of disease, to eliminate cancer, and improve quality of life.
