"I had a fabulous experience and I am recovering well. I had planned on taking a three month trip across the country but held off because of my hip. Now, I don’t hurt anymore, I feel great and I am ready...Grand Canyon here I come!”
Mariellen Smith, of Toms River, is one of the first patients to benefit from Ocean County’s only Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Joint Replacement System which is housed here at Community Medical Center. The Mako System allows for increased precision during hip and knee replacement surgeries. Mariellen is very grateful that this advanced robotic technology was available close to home when she needed hip surgery.
In her words…
“While hiking early this year something felt wrong with my hip. When surgery was needed, I wanted to have it at Community Medical Center. I have confidence in this hospital. My family tried to convince me to go to New York or Philadelphia but I knew my surgeon would be using robotics so I decided to have the surgery done locally, and I am thrilled that I did! The technology was incredible and I am very happy that three miles from my home this amazing surgery could be done. I like the staff at Community Medical Center. The nurses were kind, professional and took the time, even when they were busy, to listen to what I needed. I loved the physical therapy provided at the hospital and always felt I was getting the best care. Thank you to everyone at Community Medical Center.
