    Dr. Cohen is a clinician-educator in the Division of Endocrinology and Department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!), he earned his medical degree at The Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California. He then completed his residency in Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at The Mount Sinai Hospital where he served as Chief Resident followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at The Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California and a Rabkin Fellowship in Medical Education at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. In addition to working as an inpatient Hospitalist at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Dr. Cohen works as a general endocrinologist. His clinical interests include thyroid disease (hypo- and hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer) and care of transgender individuals. He possesses an Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound and is the Director of the Thyroid Nodule and Biopsy Clinic. He also is certified by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the co-director of the Adult PROUD Gender Center Hormone Affirmation Center Clinic. Academically, Dr. Cohen is the Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine for Education, the Course Director for the Internal Medicine Sub-Internship, & the Chair of the Volunteer Appointments and Promotions Committee and the Grand Rounds Coordinator for the Department of Medicine. He recently completed the Academic Leadership Program at Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences and holds numerous clinical and educational leadership roles in the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), The Endocrine Society, the American Thyroid Association, and Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine. His research interests are both clinical and educational, particularly in the area of active learning, teaching techniques, and health care disparities.
