Maternal Health Awareness
RWJBarnabas Health Recognizes Maternal Health Awareness Day
Through 9 comprehensive maternity centers, RWJBarnabas Health proudly delivers the most babies in New Jersey. We are committed to partnering with and empowering women and families with knowledge and support throughout their birthing journeys—from the moment they consider starting a family to ongoing postpartum care. As part of this, we join with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) in observing Maternal Health Awareness Day on January 23rd and focus on maternal health risks by:
- Raising awareness of potentially life-threatening warning signs
- Providing specialized care to women with high-risk pregnancies
- Talking about our Centers for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, which are dedicated to helping women and families manage mental health issues during and after pregnancy and our Peer Recovery Program for new and expectant moms with substance use disorder offered through the Institute for Prevention and Recovery.
- Sharing information on Heart Disease in Women, including symptoms of cardiac-related issues during pregnancy or following childbirth.
- Sharing facts about what pregnant patients and their families need to know about immunization and COVID-19
- Educating our clinicians on the latest evidence-based clinical practices
- Encouraging women throughout their birthing journey to speak up when something seems wrong and start conversations with their doctors.
