Volunteer Services

More than 200 adult and youth volunteers dedicate their time and hearts to patients, family, staff and visitors throughout the hospital. Our volunteers dedicate thousands of hours of service every year, making them an invaluable asset to our facility. Volunteers extend the services and care that Clara Maass is able to offer patients, staff and the public. Most volunteers contribute at least 3 to 4 hours each week and range in age from 15 to 95.

Volunteers assist staff in a variety of ways including:

  • Answering phones, filing or assembling patient informational folders
  • Escorting patients to and from physical/occupational therapy
  • Visiting patients and providing comfort measures and support
  • Guiding same-day procedure patients to their designated areas
  • Serving as a liaison between the recovery room and the family waiting room
  • Provide extra attention and care to seniors through our Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) Volunteer Program

If you love helping people and have an interest in health care, consider becoming a volunteer at Clara Maass Medical Center today by completing the application (adult or teen), along with the employee health form and background screening form before returning it to the Volunteer Services Department at Clara Maass Medical Center. You will then be contacted for an interview if an assignment corresponds with your skills and availability.

For more information about volunteerism at Clara Maass, contact the Volunteer Services Department at 973-450-2150 or email Tania.Manago@rwjbh.org.
