Smoking Cessation Program
Finally Quit Smoking
Smoking has an unquestionably adverse effect on our health, but many smokers still have trouble quitting. We understand that even when patients want to kick their smoking habit, they may require additional assistance, support, and resources in order to do so. That is why we offer a smoking cessation program, called the Nicotine and Tobacco Recovery Program, for patients looking to take control of their health and well-being with a tobacco-free lifestyle.
About Our Smoking Cessation Program
Some smokers are able to stop their habit on their own or with over the counter products (like nicotine patches or gum). However, it's also common for smokers—especially long-term smokers—to have difficulty doing this. Our smoking cessation program is managed and staffed by dedicated, knowledgeable medical professionals and counselors to assist these patients and the challenges they face as they strive to stop smoking.
For our smoking patients, RWJBarnabas Health provides:
- One-on-one sessions with our knowledgeable, trained coaches
- Medication and behavioral treatment
- Personalized plans for reducing and eliminating tobacco use
- Assistance for parents who want to eliminate second-hand smoke
- Relapse prevention
- Individualized plans for smokers with mental illness
At our facilities, we believe that every patient is unique and there is never a "one size fits all" approach to smoking cessation. Our coaches and counselors will partner closely with these patients to understand the role that smoking plays in their lives and what they can do to counter both their chemical and emotional dependence on tobacco.
