KidsFit is an award-winning, interactive wellness program that focuses on cultivating healthy lifestyles and behaviors within the classroom and during after school programs. The 10-week KidsFit program provides tools to help children and their families learn about good nutrition and physical activity, how they play an important role in health and wellness and help to foster lifelong healthy behaviors.
Our Success
Students who participated in KidsFit showed improvement in the following areas:
- More children eating a healthy breakfast
- Decreased consumption of soda, sweets and fats
- Increased consumption of fruits and vegetables
- Increased weekly activity levels
KidsFit has been a part of the school curriculum in the greater Newark area school district with successful outcomes. It is now available to all teachers in the state of New Jersey.
How can you bring this program to your school?
In collaboration with the New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health (IFNH) at Rutgers University, to bring this award-winning program to New Jersey 3rd through 5th grade classrooms. A teacher can become a KidsFit instructor by attending a training seminar at the IFNH, free of charge. Virtual training is also available. Those who attend will have the ability to access the KidsFit curriculum and Healthy School tool kit online. Call (973) 926-7371 for upcoming training sessions!
Certified KidsFit instructors have access to a web-based private portal which includes:
- The KidsFit Instructor's manual with 3rd - 5th grade curriculum
- The KidsFit workbook with activities, recipes and parent education
- The Healthy School Tool Kit
- Online database of healthy recipes for the classroom and home
